Begin your getaway with a sailboat cruise through Newport Harbor—complete with morning mimosas and knitting in hand—then enjoy an afternoon of boutique shopping, a hands-on knitting class, and a special trunk show hosted by Newport Yarn & Fibers, followed by a cozy knit night and dinner. Saturday brings a guided excursion by private coach to two beloved Rhode Island yarn shops—Stitch Supply and Mermaid’s Purl—plus time to wander the picturesque village of Wickford and then on to savor the sweeping ocean vistas of Beavertail State Park in Jamestown. On Sunday, board a trolley for a sightseeing tour and step into the Gilded Age with a visit to the iconic Breakers Mansion. Your package includes boutique hotel accommodations, most meals, private transportation, knitting instruction, and admissions—everything you need for a memorable weekend of coastal beauty, creative inspiration, and community.

Lynn Ruggieri

Lynn Ruggieri is a dual citizen of Italy and the U.S. and splits her time between the two countries, residing in Perugia for the last 10 years. Lynn is a knitter and tour organizer.

Lynn is passionate about lace knitting and designs knit dresses and socks for her antique dolls. She is also a machine knitter.

Knitting classes

Join Lynn (knitter, instructor, knitwear designer) for knitting workshops that will be focused on knitwear inspired by Newport and the ocean state and a demonstration of machine knitting. All knitters should have a basic understanding of knitting. Class will be modified to accommodate all levels of knitting. Whether it’s a simple design or complicated colorwork, you will learn some new skills and have social time with knitters. Please bring your work for show and tell.

Thursday, May 28

We will kick off our retreat weekend with a happy hour and dinner. Get to know knitters over cocktails, as we get ready for our fun weekend ahead. Meals included: Dinner

Friday, May 29

We kick off our retreat weekend with a sailboat tour of Newport Harbor with mimosas and knitting. Lunch (on own) and exploring downtown Newport. Afternoon knitting class inspired by the coastal charm of Newport, plus a trunk show of Newport Yarn and Fibers, incredible luxurious yarns inspired by the women of Newport. Dinner and knit night. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner.

Saturday, May 30

Our excursion day! We will charter a private coach bus to take us to visit 2 amazing yarn stores in the area, Stitch Source in Barrington and Mermaid’s Purl in Wickford. You will have time to browse the shops, chat with knitters, and get a few rows in. We will spend time in the quaint village of Wickford for lunch and exploring, before heading to Jamestown to see Beavertail State Park and incredible ocean panoramic views. Meals included: Breakfast and Dinner.

Sunday, May 31

We explore Newport with a trolley tour, stopping at the iconic Breakers Mansion to see the opulence of the gilded age. Tour ends after our morning adventure, but feel free to stay in Newport for lunch and more exploration of Newport and Rhode Island. Meals included: Breakfast
