Lynn Ruggieri
Lynn Ruggieri is a dual citizen of Italy and RI so Newport is her backyard. She splits her time between the two countries, residing in Perugia for the last 10 years. Lynn is an avid knitter and tour organizer.
Lynn is passionate about lace knitting and designs knit dresses and socks for her antique dolls. She is also a machine knitter.

Retreat Itinerary
Thursday November 5, 2026
We will kick off our retreat weekend with a stroll down Bowen’s Wharf known for its spectacular waterfront and boutique Newport themed shops before dinner at a local restaurant where you can sample the seafood the region is known for. Get to know knitters as we share our knitting projects and passions in the hotel after dinner. Meals included: Dinner
Friday November 6, 2026
After breakfast we will visit the Marble House, built by William Vanderbilt as a 39th birthday present for his wife Alva. The ‘summer cottage’ set the pace for the gilded age. It was the setting for the 1974 movie The Great Gatsby starring Robert Redford. There is time for shopping the quaint shops of Thames and Spring streets before we travel to the destination yarn shop Stitch Source https://www.stitchsourceri.com in Barrington. We will take a class taught by Natalie Darmohraj, owner of Stitch Source, who holds a BFA in textile design from RI School of Design. After some shopping we will return to Newport for dinner and some knitting in the hotel. Meals Breakfast, Dinner.
Saturday November 7, 2026
Our excursion day! We will charter a private coach bus to take us to the Fiber Festival of New England in Sturbridge MA. We will see regional and national vendors selling yarn, fleece, fiber producing accessories, crafts and locally produced textiles. There will be seminars on knitting, spinning, felting and weaving. Meals included: Breakfast and Dinner.

We explore Newport with a trolley tour, stopping at the iconic Breakers Mansion to see the opulence of the gilded age. Tour ends after our morning adventure, but feel free to stay in Newport for lunch and more exploration of Newport and Rhode Island. Meals included: Breakfast
